Don’t Skip Over These National Parks Near Seattle, Washington

August 29, 2014 5:01 pm

Beyond the city limits of Seattle lie two National Parks that showcase the true beauty of the Northwest. One features massive mountain tops, while the other tells the story of Washington's native inhabitants.

Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve
Taking a trip to Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve means not only leaving the city behind, but also leaving the mainland. Located on the center of Whidbey Island in Washington's Puget Sound Region, this park exhibits the early history of the Pacific Northwest. Guests also enjoy spending the afternoon taking part in traditional park activities, such as fishing or kayaking. Even if you're just taking a nature walk on one of the trails, you'll surely enjoy all of the beauty this park has to offer!

North Cascades National Park
Some of the country's most picturesque mountaintops await you at North Cascades National Park. Located about 100 miles outside of Seattle, this park is known for its scenic vistas. It attracts backpackers and mountain climbers year round, and the variety of traditional park activities, like camping, bicycling, guided tours, and fishing, are sure to please anyone who visits. If you're a history buff, you can also get to know the area's rich cultural history with a trip to Stehekin, a small community located within the park.
