Plan a Visit to These National Parks Near Seattle, Washington

September 18, 2014 5:01 pm

Get back to simpler times with one or both of these national parks located just a few hours outside of Seattle, Washington. Each exhibits a different geographical aspect of the beauty that is the Pacific Northwest.

San Juan Island National Historical Park
Spend a day or two away from the fast-paced city life of Seattle at San Juan Island National Historical Park. This island getaway is rich with both history and wildlife. Here, history lovers can learn about the struggle between American and British soldiers in the 1850's at one of the re-enactment centers, while birdwatchers can enjoy a chance to spy more than 200 species of migratory birds. San Juan Island National Historical Park is a great place for conventional park activities like camping and fishing, but also offers more unique attractions like marine wildlife observation.

Mount Rainier National Park
Mount Rainier National Park is just two hours south of Seattle. Within its confines lies Mount Rainier, the most recognizable mountain peak in the contiguous United States. The park accommodates all of your traditional outdoor activities, like bicycling, fishing, and camping, on any of the many campgrounds. Although the mountain range contains an episodically active volcano, adventurous travelers will love this breathtaking national landmark.

Tipsy Cow Burger Bar: Refined Burgers

September 17, 2014 4:10 pm

The Tipsy Cow Burger Bar is a old fashioned fast food joint that serves high-end takes on American fare favorites. All of the beef here is 100% pasture-raised from Long Valley Ranch, while the buns are sourced fresh daily from Seattle’s famed Macrina Bakery. What's more, the fries are hand-cut from Kennebec potatoes.

You'll likely taste the difference these ingredients make in Tipsy Burger's signature cheeseburger, which is complemented by Beecher’s white cheddar, Walla Walla sweet onions, and house-made pickles. Or try the Beast Mode with ground buffalo, blue cheese, and bacon jalapeno relish. If you’re not feeling like red meat, regulars rave about the ahi tuna sandwich with nori seaweed and wasabi aioli. Tipsy Cow Burger Bar also offers a selection of draft beers, wines, and cocktails.

Tipsy Cow Burger Bar is open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
