If you’ve got a hankering for a taste of Britain, plan a trip to the British Pantry. Since opening in 1978, this combo bakery/gift shop/full-service restaurant has been serving authentic British meals to Redmond locals.
Owner Mavis Redman grew up in Swinton, where she learned the craft of baking with her father at his Manchester bakery. After emigrating to the United States, Redmond started making traditional favorites, like meat pies and Lancashire pasties, the latter being a flaky pastry stuffed with beef, potatoes, onions, peas, and carrots. Get a few to-go from the bakery, or have a seat in the restaurant to enjoy some of the best fish and chips in town. The traditional British breakfasts here are also well worth trying. The traditional comes with two eggs, two sausages, two slices of bacon, grilled tomatoes, baked beans, country potatoes, and toast. The Stilton burger is also quite good.
Prices are very fair, and service is friendly and quick.
